That may sound a bit rude but other than the actual parents, nobody else cares about the gender of someone’s unborn baby. And not to harp on the matter but it is basically revealing what genitals your child will have. After all, you don’t know your child’s gender until they have grown up and can actually understand that concept themselves. It’s an archaic idea that many people still cling to just to get some internet points.
However, this story is not about that. it’s about a selfish woman who wants to have a gender reveal party the same day as her niece’s birthday in the middle of a pandemic no less! And when she got called out on her selfishness, she doubled down on a nonsense sob story. You can take a look for yourself by scrolling below.

YTA. You are doing the “Look at me! Look at me!” thing on a child’s birthday. And I suspect this will continue any time you feel like your niece is getting more attention in your family. You want all of the special days to be your special days. Well, this one isn’t. It’s your niece’s birthday.
You can wait a day to tell people the gender of your baby to be. –sheramom4
This. Also, there is no reason to do this at all. Gender reveal parties are for you and no one else. Pop a blue balloon and use Instagram filters to make it artsy so you can post it to Instagram. Otherwise, there is no reason to create drama because, again, this is just for you. Even your husband doesn’t care about this. –eggroll85
On point #3 thought the dinner is also a super spreader event that has a 1yo child involved. If covid is part of the vote then both of them are AH for planning get-togethers during a pandemic.
The sister wants to have dinner with multiple families there seeing as there is a worry people won’t attend if there are 2 events. –shantae420
