Some parents believe that they own their children. I understand how difficult it is to accept that your child has grown up and requires privacy, but putting them in situations where they are uncomfortable just because you are on a power trip is not the way to go. Just because your child refuses to do something or show you something does not mean they are keeping something from you.
This is especially true if your child has reached the age of maturity and is considered an adult. It always surprises me when I see parents who treat their children as if they are extensions of themselves rather than individual human beings.
