The Texas judge Roy Ferguson shared a caption that says “If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off.” This hilarious incident happened at the 394th Judicial District Court where the Judge and the lawyers gathered on Zoom for a virtual court hearing. Rod Ponton for Presidio County was one of the lawyers but instead of appearing as everyone else, he appeared to be a white kitten with big eyes. It was not a real kitten; it was a cat filter that was appearing on the attorney’s face. Judge Ferguson said, “Mr. Ponton, I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings.” The attorney Bauer put on his glasses to see what was happening and he had a smile on his face.
Attorney Rod Ponton told the judge that his assistant is trying to remove the filter but they couldn’t figure out how to remove it so Judge Roy Ferguson helped the attorney remove the filter and they carried on the virtual hearing very professionally. Scroll down for the complete conversation.
Attorney Kendyl Hanks shared this video on the internet and people loved it. She expressed sympathy for Mr. Ponton but also complimented him for carrying the conversation professionally. Well, kudos to the Judge for keeping a straight face. In an interview, when Judge Ferguson was asked about it, he told that it was hard for him to keep a straight face. In a tweet about this incident, he said, “Everyone involved handled it with dignity, and the filtered lawyer showed incredible grace. True professionalism all around!”.
The Attorney Mr. Ponton says: “If the country can pause for a moment and chuckle at a computer snafu at my expense, I’m glad.”
